letters from the query wars 1.6.2012 with 2011 annual stats

And here’s the total, as best as I could keep track for 2011…

# of queries responded to in 2011: 7,768
# of partials/manuscripts requested: 30
(some of which are still on my desk awaiting review)
note: this # does not include requests made at conferences

# of new clients: 2 (up from 1 last year)

And now, welcome to the New Year….

# of queries responded to this week: 203
# of partials/manuscripts requested: 0
genre of partials/manuscripts requested: n/a

I have now responded to all queries received in 2011. If you sent a query in 2011 and did not receive a response, either it did not reach me, or my response did not reach you.

And to get 2012 off to a fun start, I offered representation to an author today!

  1. I love reading your posts every week about this. Thanks for keeping track!

  2. Thanks for the stats, they are very encouraging. They make my rejections seem pretty meaningless and my manuscript requests seem more meaningful!

It’s also helpful to have stats like this to show people when one is trying to explain the process of traditional publication.

  3. Ooo, what a great way to start the year! I love knowing these stats, they definitely help.

  4. Thanks for sharing those stats. 🙂 I love reading them.
