The new cover for the reprint of Alchemy of Stone, coming in November 2009. Via Ekaterina Sedia AKA squirrel_monkey. Very different from the previous cover (which you can see here).

There’s a new “DVD Extra” over on the Shadow Unit site. Via Elizabeth Bear AKA matociquala, who spent quite a lot of yesterday canoeing from one end of Hartford to the other – underground…. those who have read Hammered have heard about this before.

Mary Robinette Kowal explains how to make entrails – includes pictures! For something completely different, see her AMC column about Top 10 Movie Moms Too Fantastic to Be True in honor of Mother’s Day.

An interesting review of Ken Scholes Long Walks, Last Flights & Other Strange Journeys over at the Internet Review of Science Fiction. Via kenscholes.

Jay Lake is the Toastmaster for this year’s World Fantasy Convention in San Jose. Via jaylake.

Cherie Priest reports on her recent book sale for her “adventure novel about a neurotic vampire/thief and her wealthy blind client, now with Bonus! Cuban drag queen and military intrigue.”

A number of clients report on the new Star Trek film — which I have not yet seen: Patricia Bray, Amanda Downum, Kameron Hurley, Mary Robinette Kowal, Jay Lake, Martha Wells. Given my current stack of reading, I will probably end up not seeing this in the theater and Netflixxing (is that a verb?) it instead. Until then, this will have to do:

  1. The new book cover for “Alchemy of Stone” is beautiful and creepy. And thank you very much for the Star Wars vs, Star Trek clip.

  2. I hope this isn’t terribly importunate, Ms. Jackson, but would you find fielding a general question? Is there any point in gently touching base with an agent if you think they’ve forgotten about your partial/full manuscript? (say more than two months for a requested partial, or six months for a full manuscript?) As in, won’t you simply be annoying them?
    Thanks!

  3. This is a movie that does extra well on the big screen. Surely you’ll need a break at some point from the stack? 🙂

  4. Great video, but now we know how Star Trek ends, what’s the point of seeing the movie 😉

  5. Hahahaha! Can I just say, some people have waaaaaaaay too much time on their hands. 😀 That vid was very funny.

  6. “[…]now with Bonus! Cuban drag queen and military intrigue.””
Was that actually penned into the contract? ‘Cause if it is I wanna see it!

  7. It’s my first visit here and you have both Star Wars and Star Trek- I think I’m going to like it here!
